hurricane hurricane go away

Hurricane Gustav put us out of commission for a bit, but now we're back! :) We lost power for about a week and then have been busy cleaning up the yard and dealing with odds and ends. But thank goodness for no major damage or losses! Here are a few "hurricane" pics.

A few days before Gustav hit, M and the animals and I sat in the back yard eating fried corn fritters, sipping iced tea (and juice), and lamenting the loss of our beloved corn fields! :( I was/am really so sad! I loved the isolated feeling they gave to the house... c'est la vie.

a hurricane tunnel... M playing around while I taped up windows and moved furniture, pictures, etc. toward the center of the room.

We held our "hurricane party" in town at my Granny's as she doesn't have any big trees around her house. Apparently Maria and Audrey were all partied out!

clean up crew! M's new found love - riding in Dada's truck! She LOVED "sitting tight" in the "big people's" seat while we drove around the yard picking up sticks/tree limbs. When we stopped she'd just play and play in her own little world, staying in her seat the whole time. :)What a good sweet girl. ;)

a snowcone pitstop...Maria apparently did not like the pina colada I got her (my choice due to its' clear color), but ended up with my pink lemonade. However, Audrey thoroughly enjoyed the pina colada leftovers!
