beach bums

September started off on just the right foot with the birth of little Lila Therese, then Kindergarten kick started with (mostly) excitement, and we decided to keep the momentum going.  Nana graciously offered to keep the littlest of the Littles, while we headed off to the BEACH with the big girls!

(I love how overloaded poor Dada is.  He always makes endless amounts of 'pokes' as me when I start piling 'stuff' into the car! Oh the love of a good man.)
We headed off to a nearby bay area beach - not quite the ocean but salty and sandy and ever so perfect for this beach lovin' Mama.  The super quaint historical downtown Yorktown did not disappoint with windmills and giant rocks, cobblestone streets and ice cream parlors - it was as 'East Coast' as I imagined.  (Yorktown is where we watched fireworks back in July, however arriving at a location at 9p.m. does not lend to seeing the beauty of an area!)

The Crocs were promptly abandoned for...

waves! Wonderful salty smelling waves (or sorts)!  Halloween buckets! As I'm posting I'm realizing how silly it is to be at the beach with Halloween buckets.  Our lack of yard means all of our 'yard' toys (sand buckets included) are in storage for the time being, thus the trick-r-treating paraphernalia.

I love them.

Oh the discoveries that were made amongst these rocks - snails, wind, water pools.... It truly is so wonderful to live in the world of little people.

And it looks as if little sister is going to follow in the footsteps or our rock-climbing loving Maria tortilla.

Shells!

I assure you, while being a fabulous day to be at the beach, it was much too chilly to actually be in the water!  Oh my sweet water loving babies.
