Forgive me for asking a toddler to take photos shortly after waking from her afternoon beauty rest. ;)
We are on our 2nd round of 'borrowing' the movie Robin Hood from the library in a short 3 weeks... Translated, that means lots of pretend arrow pokes, thumb sucking and whimpers of "Mommy, Mommy", and namely a refining in the art of dress up.
Meet, Maid Mary (otherwise known as Maid Marian).
Every day for a week. This costume has been worn...in full. On some days this has meant we couldn't take another step if the ring, bracelet, purse, wand, or singing turtle wasn't with us. For memories sake, the most crucial elements of this costume have been :: the hot pink petticoat, the purple pirate princess vest, the pink cat cape, the borrowed turquoise necklace, and her black slippers.
Every night she lays each piece out carefully at the foot of their bed. Each morning, she puts each piece back on - sometimes over clothes, sometimes pjs. And that's how we go about our day.
The part I've enjoyed the most is my sad (but happy) little attempt at 'princess braids.' I love fixing their hair. Of course, all three little girls of mine prefer to have hair falling in their faces rather than pulled up in any form or fashion.
Oh and I've had to don a tunic with leather belt and an ill fitting beach hat as a corresponding Robin Hood costume. If I 'lose' part of my costume, she follows me around, ordering my back up to her room so she can find the rest of my costume.
We haven't gone out in public a lot. When we have, it's most amusing... the stares... and the smiles.
Finally a smile from my little Maid Mary!
I love this girl and her love of dress-up.
