happy 4th of july!

Maria and I had a blast hanging out with some of my childhood friends for the 4th of July! The idea was to get fireworks that flared with great color but didn't make loud noises, so as not to scare the little ones. The adult end of the mission was accomplished: lots of color, no loud noises. M's reaction?...

Not so much. My poor little one, who was well past bedtime, was very unimpressed. We tried our best to finish out all of the fireworks but ended up having to leave...She was making her friend Samantha cry! (Isn't the little "firework" on top of her head too cute?)

However, she did have loads of fun earlier that afternoon...

She's a total water bug! We were definitely the last ones out of the pool. She even put her face in the water in an attempt to mimic me blowing bubbles!

"Ring ring!" I think she thought ringing the bell on this tricycle was even more fun than the pool!

Here the girls are enjoying a snack with Molly. She was full of fun little nursery rhymes to sing and play with them while they sat on her lap! Molly and I used to play at each other's houses growing up and were friends through high school. It's great fun linking back up!

I love the 4th of July! Hot dogs, fries, apple juice/beer, cute little red/white&blue outfits, guys at the grill... I can't wait until next year! (Perhaps then she'll be old enough to enjoy the fireworks.)
