a bug's life

Maria and I spent last Sunday afternoon clearing a cozy "home" amongst the tree roots and digging for bugs!  Here's her story in photos: :D

First, it's necessary to climb up and find a good vantage point in order to pick just the right spot for a new home.

It's a good idea to perform a healthy amount of the "hop-hopping" ritual in order to properly clear the area.
Then, the true clearing of heavy logs and such can commence!  (Can you believe she actually lifted that log solo?  Hercules! Hercules!)

And now our home is ready for some good bug hunting... Find a good stick... ready, set, dig!
Check out our centipede in the middle!  (He didn't last long on the edge of my stick with Miss Pokey sniffing about. ;D)

And it took a while, but I finally convinced her to hold a rolly-polly in her hand!

But you can't really be certain it's a good bug unless you eat it!

Mmm, yummy.  Yes, that was definitely a tasty bug! ;D
