fun times - minus the camera

So our camera is currently on the fritz. :(

In the meantime, here are a few worded memories of our life back in Texas:

We are LOVING our new house! Wahoo for purchase of our first home! It's amazing how easy it is to unpack when you actually 'fit' into your living space. (Now for all of those pictures and paint colors...)

The best part of our new home: the screened porch and backyard. Six trees = all day play in the hot Texas summer, swings for toddler/baby/parental fun, windchimes for sweet music, and our very own 'Rolly Polly Town'!

The best part of the super backyard and porch? Maria never wants to leave for errands or any other reason. "Maria we need to go to Target." (her favorite errand :-D) "Nooo, I'll just stay here (on the porch) and color." "Ok, Maria, we really need to get moving now." "Nooo, I want to swing." Errand canceled. You can't argue with a girl's need to enjoy the outdoors. :-)

While we weren't originally super excited about our Fort Hood assignment, we promised ourselves to make the best of it. And thus we've discovered Ft Hood's amazing out door rental facility! Annnd a fabulous lake a mere 3 miles from the house! (With a sandy limestone bottom which equals gorgeous green/blue water!)

All of the above equals a fun Thursday afternoon with a canoe on the lake! We made lots of pit stops along the shore discovering a little 'flock' of brilliant blue dragonflies, minnows, a family of ladybugs, a giant turtle, fish bones, deer tracks, and lots of rock/shell/drift-wood 'souvenirs'! And Maria was wrinkled and pruny from hanging her hands over the canoe to feel the water rushing by!

The best part of it all though is being back within driving distance of our families! Can't wait to see everyone!

Hi Jenna,
Wow I can't believe how big Maria has gotten! I think she looks like you too... is she too young for dreads?
Miss you!
