while the boys are away...

...the girls will play! (Well, in our case sew. And do lots of projects. And sometimes we do all 3. In our pajamas. All day. With wine served for breakfast. :D)

J-D spent the month of January in the never never lands of Ft Polk, LA at JRTC. (Training for the ever looming deployment. gr.) It's never fun to run the ship solo - so to speak. Thus I am grateful that the wives of 1-5 are a crafty (and social) group. And that might just be an understatement! Everything from knitting, to sewing, to wood working... you name it, there's a Cav wife who's into it. Lucky me!

mia :: the decorator, caterer, overnight hand embroiderer

lauren :: famous pastry chef, wood worker, jewelry-er, turned sewer

me :: the baby-wearing-determined-to-finish-at-least-one-project mama

ria :: pajama-wearing-determined-to-take-out-every-toy-in-the-playroom-toddler

camille :: drooler extraordinare, giggle box giggler, toddler entertainer-er

there's more to the crafty crew who crafted together throughout the month... my camera just didn't come out to play with us. ;-) However, I am grateful to the patience of Liz, who's teaching me my newest undertaking - knitting!

We've also been doing some serious Valentine's prep around here. The first word's out of Maria's mouth as we began packing up Christmas decorations - "What holiday to we decorate for next, Mommy?" :-)

Our most talked about project might have been painting the wall together. She was quite proud of herself!
