hurricanes and such

We braved Hurricane Sandy this weekend, and much to the dismay of a certain 5 year old who is fascinated with natural disasters... we saw little more than rain, rain, and more rain.  (Can you tell her Cajun mama was a bit disappointed too?  I'm pretty certain we should count our blessings... But a hurricane?!! Moving on.  My mother is currently questioning her upbringing of me.  Hi, Mom!)

 Needless to say with all of the rain we were going a bit nutty.  That's when I remembered 'pinning' a finger knitting tutorial on Pinterest a while back.  It turned out to be the perfect project for my always-in-need-of-a-project, project girl.  Quick, easy, and yields immediate results.

You should check out the tutorial here.

And while someone's 2 month photo shoot is coming up, I'm pretty certain it's impossible to have enough baby photos on the blog...
especially because she's just so smiley these days!

That is, when she's not frowning!  (Still makes ya smile though, doesn't it?)

And these little notebooks... were well worth the 3.99.  The big girls and I all have one.  I find them everywhere - in the middle of being stickered to death, best friend names being recorded, ideas for dresses.  I'm sure you'll see more of them.

And here's a bit of 5 year old finance for you::
(Coming home from school)
Ree:: Can I have a smencil?
me:: What's a smencil?
Ree:: It's this pencil, you don't really draw with it. Well you can, but the eraser doesn't erase.  It smells good.
me:: Ok.  And how much does a smencil cost?
Ree:: I don't know.  I don't think it matters how much you send.
