As I was uploading these photos, I realized just why December felt so busy. Because it was!
There was lots of 'elving' and merry-making of one sort and another. These mugs were an idea that I pinned a year or so ago. We made them for teacher presents, Christmas presents, and even a few for each other! Everyone needs the perfect hot cocoa mug.
My favorite part of making them was having Maria add her two cents to my idea... because of course, it was completely opposite of my black marker, block letter simple plan! We needed pink, each one needed to be different, and we needed lots on them.
My favorite part of the whole 'elving season' was Maria being old enough to execute her own ideas... and even wrap them up on her own! She made the sweetest angel ornament for Lila and a super fun 'food art' house for Camille.
Both Camille and Maria made freezer paper shirts for each other.

But Camille spent most of her time parked on the cow hide rug making one block creation after another. I loved watching her building process. She would start with a giant jumble of blocks and somehow they would turn into towering castles or tunnels or barns.
Then there was the baking : peppermint chocolate chip cookies, triple layer peppermint bark... We got a bit carried away crushing bags of peppermints. We added them to just about everything!

Maria was determined we would go caroling. Dada and I were less than enthusiastic. However seeing as an Army post is the perfect close-quatered-everyone-is-friendly place for such an event, we all hopped on her bandwagon. It was good silly fun...
And thankfully we have good friends who were not only willing to bear our singing but also served us hot chocolate when it was all said and done. (Her song line up was "Away in a Manger" and "Jingle Bells".)
Because it always falls in Dada's department. :D
Camilly grew rather bored waiting for her turn to join in the fun. In true Mohundro girl fashion, she decided to make her own fun. She turned the icing into a baby and sang it/her/him Rock-a-Bye-Baby.
Little Lila, well, she slept through most of it... despite her sisters' best efforts to keep her entertained.

AAAAggh! The turning the icing into a baby and rocking it to sleep is so....Madeleine! We have countless stories of her turning salt shakers, forks, even toothpicks into babies so she could be "mommy" to them. Precious! The caroling is too wonderful. What if that does become a tradition that has begun with Maria. How wonderful...
