throw back thursday

Here is summer 2011 in a nutshell ::

JD deployed in May.  We quickly distracted ourselves with a perfectly lovely visit to my cousin's home in Houston.  Maria's little culinary heart delighted in helping with these little shrimp and pork dumplings!

And we completely over took their house with little girl squeals (her kiddos are in high school... now college!).  The girls beside themselves with all of new/old toys that were dragged out for their entertainment!

There was lots of silly entertainment back at our casa with dear Army friends...

and dear sisters, who tolerate silly bows if allowed to pick at your gums and inspect your overall dental hygiene.

There was also a road trip to Oklahoma for the wedding of two dear friends.  JD was an honorary groomsman for his 7-10 battle buddy. (Honorary, seeing as he was deployed and couldn't be there.)

The girls and I walked down the aisle all together as flower girls, which was good silly fun and a surprising success.  (The whims and timings of a good meltdown for Maria are quite vast and unpredictable.)

The lovely Aunt Lauren accompanied and entertained us on our road trip... And thankfully, she still decided to have a kiddo after the experience!  (A sweet little 4 month old, whom I'm still waiting to meet!)

On the same trip, we availed ourselves to Aunt Meghan and her little cutie.  To this day, Maria still asks if we can go play at Alexander's park.  It was a.maz.ing.  All wood, built by the community, something akin to what you might imagine would happen if the Swiss family Robinsons converged with a pirate ship.  (I'm pretty sure that didn't make any sense.  But it was really cool, ok?!)

We invaded doll houses with dinosaurs, Cars, and farm animals.

Camilly tried new foods.

She loved it.  Really.

We kept up with our garden of green beans, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, and herbs.

Loved on our Audrey puppy.

Built houses for the Cars.

Practiced our sign language (Cheerios!).

We all but lived at 'our' lake.  That is, until the drought hit and you could no longer access the water due to all of the giant rocks.  Rocks that had once been under the water.

Instead, we moved into Muddy Bug Pond... which was occasionally clear of mud and bugs.

Camilly roamed the furniture.  (I'm so glad I decided to recover the ottoman!  Thanks, Mom, for working up the original cover!)

And she began her love affair with pulling on/snuggling other people's ears!

And I have no idea why most of these pictures are blurry and pixelated.  grrr.

Here's a throw back to our last 'throw back thursday'!
