mud, music, and feet

A couple of weekends back a few friends and I headed down to New Orleans for the annual Jazz Fest. We had a total blast and it was good to enjoy some kid-free time for a bit (although as the ever new mom, I was anxious to get back to her). A thanks is due to Lauren for convincing me that I should go! :D It was a day of great music, art, food, people... and mud. Check it out!

The "Mardi Gras Mambou"... Pentecost style??? I'm not sure the reason for all the red; I'm certain someone more Cajun than me knows. But ignorance is bliss, right? ;)

I've always had a fetish for feet pics, and couldn't pass this one up. What were we thinking headed down there after a huge storm wearing our Chacos?! Silly girls!

And this little guy just did me in; I had to snap a pic. He reminded me of the old adage that goes something to the affect of, "When God gives you mud, make mud pies." Am I making that up? Anyway, he probably wasn't thrilled to be tagging along with his parents listening to music he didn't know, played by a band he couldn't see (the stage being too far away), but he just contentedly played in the mud with his trucks. I love the world seen through the eyes/minds/hearts of children... we have so much to learn from them. :)
