Maria's latest infatuation - climbing. Somewhere along the way, the very naive mother in me thought it would be fun to have a baby that climbed. (I now laugh at this thought and question my sanity.) I enjoy rock climbing and in my mind a baby that climbed equated to a kid that would love to climb. I realize the ridiculousness of this notion; please refer to the "naive mother" part. (I'm certain she will grow up to fear heights just for spite!) I think the notion came from a mom I once heard saying her son had climbed everything (even shimming up the brick fireplace) as a child. He then grew up to be a Knowles Outdoor Instructer and an avalanche pusher. One must pause at this moment and laugh at me. Do I really want Maria to be an avalanche pusher?!? Anyway, despite my silly early mommyhood thoughts, our daughter has hit the climbing phase. Here she is conquering all shapes and sizes of objects (meaning boxes and low to the ground). It's just funny to me to turn around and find her in all these places!
And her latest rainy day climbing feat....
I must note that after this picture, she then stood up (on the window ledge, mind you), and attempted to climb onto the actual window (which was open). At that point I decided we'd had enough amusement for the morning!:D
