all in a day*

It was sunny today.

Translated = it wasn't snowing!!  Hallelujah!

And while sunny doesn't mean warm around here, it did call for another Spring Walk.  I wanted to see what had survived the snow.  I needed to see new life to remember that Spring is actually here.  Warm weather might be right around the corner.  And might there be eggs in that little nest?

Camilly was motivated by summer shoes.  I took them down from the closet shelf so I wouldn't forget that these handle-all-water-sand-summer-frollicking-about-hand-me-down shoes of Maria's should fit Camille this summer.  She instantly declared them her 'sunshiny shoes' and refused to wear anything else (excepting the frog boots below).

Oh yes, and the sequined mask. :)  She's a special kiddo, this one is.

The good news is that there is still LIFE out there!  SPRING types of life!  I'm not sure what kind of tree this is, but their blooms are the newest ones bursting on the scene.

I'm still waiting for these Cherry Trees to do their thing, but these little red buds captivate me every time we pass.  After all, they were the very first to show life bursting forth.

Seeing as today was Half-day-fun-day-wednesday around here and seeing as we have this completely fabulous stroller loaned to us by equally fabulous friends, we braved the still chilly temps for a second walk to pick Maria up from school.

Having spied some good water puddles during our morning walk, I (rather surprisingly) remembered to pack their mud boots.  (Maria literally jumped up and down when I told her I had brought them along.  That girl loves water in every form... and temperature!)

While the big girls rompused about in the chilly waters, this wee one (who looks rather sleepy in the stroller pic) took herself off to dreamland.  I just love those cheeks! and lips! and lashes!

Thankfully nap time continued once home.  I decided to continue the spirit of the sunshiny day.  The floors could wait.  There were plenty of leftovers in the fridge.  And so my little artist and I sat down together to draw and paint those glorious sunflowers... to converse. to be together. quietly.

*Title credit for this post belongs to this fabulous book by Cynthia Rylant with amazing art work by Nikki McClure.  We've enjoyed both these books for quite some time now.

Oh, I love stopping by to catch up with those beautiful girls. Love the sunflower picture and Maria's art is just "blossoming"! Don't worry, Spring will be there and it will be beautiful! When will you be in LA next?
