sometimes

Sometimes it's hard to be cheery, to see the silver lining, to remember that 'this too shall pass'.  Such was the case on Sunday, with the day dawning gray and dreary, temps in the 30s.

Doesn't Mother Nature know that Spring is here!?!?  Because this Cajun girl, well, for her Spring means 70 - 80 degree temps and endless sunshine.

In an effort to stay sane, I set myself up for the day in the kitchen.  See, there's this hungry little babe who lives here, and same as for her sisters before her, home cooked baby food is on the menu!

I peeled and chopped and simmered apples.  I set aside apple seeds for sweet Maria's plans of becoming the next Johnny Appleseed.  I wrapped and baked and pureed sweet potatoes.  I answered questions of, "Whatcha doin'?" and, "Can I help?"  My kitchen smelled lovely.  And I ignored the rain that was turning to sleet.

Before the weather turned too yucky, before nap time, and before house arrest drove everyone up the walls (despite the lovely smelling kitchen goodness), we made a mad dash for the library.  I let them pick a few reads and settled them at the little kid table.  Then Lila and I searched the rows upon rows of children's books for every Spring/Summer/warm/sunshiny book we could find!

I didn't care how enchanting the wintery books looked.  If there was even a mention of snow in a book, it was promptly returned to the shelf.  Really, what else can a Cajun girl be expected to do when it's nearly Easter and there's snow in the forecast!?!?

By the time our little army of girls was nested in bed, our world looked like this.

Covered.

I couldn't resist.  I had spent all day fighting it.  I dreaded... no, loathed the thought of dragging everyone out in it to school the next morning.  But it was just too pretty.

There is just something ever so magical about freshly fallen/falling snow.

But let's not get carried away with this Winter Wonderland nonsense.  It's Spring.  Even the Audrey-toy turkey knows it.
