Mom? Dad?

Seriously? Lately this is how Maria refers to us.
Mom. Dad.
We're not sure how to take this. She is after all, only 2.
I'm adamant. We're Mommy and Dada until a minimum age requirement of 5... and I just might up that to 6 or 7.

My response is to shorten her 3 syllable namer to 1 syllable, Ree.
She misses the sarcasm.

Ironically, Jon-D is more insulted by this new name calling than I am. His response is to insist on her saying 'Dada' before their conversation continues. It goes something like this:
"Dad?" "It's Dada." "Dad?" "No, Dada." "Dad." "Maria, say Dada." "Da...da."
Everyone loves a stubborn headed adorable 2 year old. :)

Secretly, I find the whole situation largely amusing. And I like her newest nickname. However, as a Mommy, I'm unrelenting. It's Mommy and Dada... until the negotiable age of 10. ;)
