happy memorial day (a week or so late)

Sometimes you make plans and everything falls apart.

Sometimes you make no plans and all sorts of crazy goodness abounds.

That was our Memorial Day Weekend.  An impromptu Mother-Daugther tent camping trip thanks to some of our neighbors who invited us along... a few hours beforehand!  (We did bail before it was lights out... and 40 degrees... at the end of May!)  A fun jaunt through historical Yorktown to listen to a Fifes and Drum band from the Revolutionary War- finding honeysuckle to eat along the way, and ending with a walk along the beach/river.  Here's an abundance of pictures::

And we're off!

It was super fun to see my once painfully shy Maria jump right in with all of these little girls who she had never met.  So good for my Mommy heart.

She didn't know what to do with all of its stickiness!

Finger lights were a pretty groovy highlight of the night.

And they're out.  Total success.

We actually were able to walk along behind the band, which was pretty fun.

And because I just love these two. :)
