lizards and 'lawning'

My mom and I share a love for all of the lizards around here that climb on the windows, wind chimes, and well, everything.  In middle school, I once kept a running log of the 'names' of the lizards that came to my bedroom window.  In college, I transported a shoe box full of them to my house in hopes of watching them climb the windows... My cat demolished them within a week.

This girl here has apparently absorbed our lizard-loving genetics.  We go on daily lizard hunts.  Brown ones, green ones... I even found her inside the blazing hot green house searching for them.

I wonder what Dada would think if a 'shoe box' made it into the car with us for the 17 hour ride home?

And this girl here?  Well, she loves to ride (as long as it's not a trapped-in-her-carseat kind of riding.)

Her smile is infectious.

My brothers and I all have plenty of memories of riding on lawnmowers with my dad, driving lawnmowers solo... Basically my dad mows all but 1 acre of the 48 acres they live on (perhaps a slight exaggeration), so there's lots of 'lawning' (as Maria once called it).

Anyway, Lila was fussy so Pa found the perfect solution.  I think he's hired.

And we're loving gathering flowers and ferns of all sorts from Nana's magnificent flowerbeds!
